It's A New Beginning

May 21, 2010

Dear person who loves me,

I am writing you a letter because I plan to go on a mission trip with SERVE from Youth Unlimited in Ottawa, Canada. It is a SERVE project for people with special needs – people just like me! I will help other people by cleaning, at Jericho Road, sorting out food for the Ottawa Food Bank, cleaning at the Stillwater Creek Retirement Villa, making lunches at the Ottawa Mission, cleaning lockers at the Redeemer High School, digging holes for trees and more…they have a LOT of ways I can help other people. I want to do that for them!

I need some money help from you for me and my mom to be able to fly there and back. We need about $1,800.00. It would be a great encouragement and blessing to me if you could help us. I have already received a scholarship from Youth Unlimited for the registration cost of $310.00. We still need plane tickets and new passports. We (my mom and I) will leave California and go on the SERVE project from July 10-15, 2010, time is a little short. Mom’s idea is to start a blog to keep you up to date on what is going on!

I am collecting cans and plastic bottles to recycle to make as much as I can for the trip. No more Game Stop or Six Flags…I want to go on my Mission Trip! I am so excited!

We did talk to our Church and they think this is the best way, to donate right to us. So this is not a tax deductible gift.

is the website for this SERVE project for people with special needs. There are more details and pictures on the minister’s blog at http://www.ronhosmar.blogspot.com. Look at July 2009 for last year’s information. This is the third year that this church in Ottawa is doing the Special Needs SERVE, and this is their last year!

Will you pray for me while I am gone? This is a big step out for me. My mom won’t be with me for those five days, and I will be working very hard. She doesn’t even know what she will be doing; she just won’t be with me. Please let me know you will be praying for me. I will have your picture (if you give me one) with me in a book, so that I know who is praying for me while I am gone.

Love,

John Brouwer
